We hope that you watched Steve and Naomi’s marryoke that we posted late last year on this blog. Well, we are hard at work editing their full film. We attended many beautiful weddings last year, but we can safely say that Steve and Naomi’s was definitely the coolest.
As with all our wedding films we are hoping that this film will be our best to date, and thought that Steve, Naomi and their friends and family might like a sneak preview of some of the footage. There are two clips below, the first is of their wedding ceremony, which was just like Steve and Naomi full of fun and laughter, but also all the emotion of two people who are madly in love and committed to each other! I have watched it several times and it always makes me laugh and cry!
We have put it on the Blog today primarily for Naomi’s Dad and Gran, both of whom could not be at the wedding, and both of whom were dearly missed!
This second clip is of Steve and Naomi’s first dance, it’s fabulously fun and whacky but it also amply illustrates the point that, even if things don’t always go according to plan to begin with they can still be sensational. You go guys!
Having done a fair few number of weddings, and spoken to more brides than we’ve had hot dinners, we know that one of the greatest stresses a bride faces before her wedding day is worrying about being in front of the camera so much. There aren’t many women out there who relish the idea of posing for the camera, and on such a special day when you will be at your happiest and most beautiful, what a disaster it would be if all that you had to look back on were “fat”, “blinking” and “dopey” shots. So what is the answer?
We thought we would start with the bad news first. White is an incredibly harsh colour in which to be photographed or filmed and a nightmare for every photographer and videographer. A scary thought when there is a fairly good chance that you will spend most of the day in white, or at least something fairly close to it. There are two things that you can do to wear the dress of your dreams and still look fantastic on film.
We recently completed an editorial for “Guide for the South West Bride“, a fantastic bridal magazine for anyone considering getting married in the South West. It includes really interesting and useful articles (ours naturally being included in this number), competitions – win your dress, your rings, your photography and even your honeymoon, and of course loads of amazing suppliers who all want to help make your special day absolutely perfect, and in our case, unforgettable!
Our editorial explains why, if you need any convincing, a wedding film is an absolute must:
A Starring Role
What is your favourite film?. Is it a comedy, a romance or a drama? Does it make you laugh, or cry, or both? Does it fill you with hope? Does it inspire you to be a better person? Now let’s ask what makes a great film? Strong characters, fantastic dialogue and an unforgettable soundtrack? Carefully crafted cinematography and superlative editing? Most will agree that it is all of these things, which is why we think the first film you make is guaranteed to be a blockbuster.
Happy New Year to you all and apologies for the lack of communications over the festive period. What’s our New Year’s resolution? Forget weight loss, we’re still trying to work our way through a mountain of mince pies! We have resolved to be better bloggers and twitterers.
Anyway we have two pieces of exciting news on the work front.
The first is that we are now “Master Members” of the Institute of Videography. This means that our work has been assessed by a panel of Fellows and judged to be pretty jolly good! It also means of course that we can now be found on the IOV’s “list” of qualified professional videographers that they are happy to recommend! Although I guess that’s a bit of a moot point for you, as you have already found us.
The second piece of news is that we are now the official representatives of the IOV in our Area. “Why is this exciting for us?” I hear you cry. Well, because this area hasn’t had a rep for a very long time, and now that there is we can hopefully organise lots of amazing speakers from whom we shall learn extraordinary things, which will mean even better wedding films for you.
I hope that you have all had an equally auspicious start to 2010, that all your wedding plans are proceeding smoothly and that we will be meeting up with you to discuss your wedding film in the not too distant future!
Also look out for our next Blog post “A Starring Role” – definitely too good to be missed.
What can we say about Steve and Naomi’s absolutely amazing wedding at Pentillie Castle in Cornwall? Well let’s first say what an incredibly fun and dynamic couple they are and how much fun we have had at every single meeting with them! Naturally their wedding was just as fun and dynamic as they are, and so we spent the entire day in an absolute filming frenzy trying to squeeze everything in, including our first ever marryoke! Many lessons were learnt, but we hope that you enjoy the finished product which was so much fun to film on the day and which provided a vast amount of entertainment to all the guests on the day.
Also a word of congratulations to the absentee best man and his wife (you can’t miss him in the film) on their new baby girl.
To the friends and family of Steve and Naomi thank you for being such good sports and for making us so welcome.
To Steve and Naomi thank you so much for letting us be part of your day. We wish you all the best for a fantastic Christmas and a very happy New Year
We thoroughly enjoyed Rachel and Rowan’s wedding this year at The Church of Our Lady, Upton Pyne followed by the wedding breakfast at Reed Hall, Exeter University. The grounds were beautiful and we managed to get some fantastic shots of the two of them. The wedding and the reception were simple, classic and elegant and the two families could not have been more gracious or kind. We hope that Rachel and Rowan enjoy their montage and we wish them all the best for Christmas and New Year.
We had tremendous fun at Donna and Ed’s wedding earlier this year. They still haven’t seen their film however as they are still away (poor them) on a round the world epic of a honeymoon, so we thought they might like a little sneak preview. Donna and Ed we look forward to hearing from you when you get back, and hope that we get to create a montage from all your fabulous honeymoon photographs. We shall travel vicariously through you!
Sam and Rachel were married this year at St Mary’s Church in Plympton, followed by a lovely reception at the New Continental Hotel in Plymouth. We particularly loved Rachel’s hot pink colour theme! Their One Song Montage is as classic as the couple themselves.
Thanks also to John of JM Photography. It is always nice to work with a good photographer.
When Rebecca first telephoned us to enquire about a wedding film, we were immediately enchanted with her enthusiasm and gentle spirit. She was planning a fairy tale wedding and that is most certainly what she achieved – aided and abetted by Ben’s absence throughout most of the planning! The church ceremony was beautiful, with a particularly lovely reading by the bride’s brother, James. The wedding breakfast at the Devon Hotel was delightful, with lots of special little touches – we particularly loved the ice-cream tricycle which was an absolute hit with all the guests. We also need to give a special mention to Ben and Rebecca’s son, Jacob, who was an absolute trouper with his broken leg!
We have below Ben and Rebecca’s wedding montage and hope that you enjoy it. Please feel free to leave your comments and best wishes.
Anna and Olly’s wedding was at St John’s Church, followed by a stunning reception at the Lavender House Hotel, and it was everything that a wedding should be… simple, elegant and above all romantic. Anna looked beautiful and Olly didn’t let the side down too badly. Thanks to everyone involved who helped make it such a special day, especially Studio 5 Photographers, who were such a pleasure to work with.
We hope their wedding montage brings back many happy memories of what was truly a perfect day.
